Gladstone and surrounds

Garry had lived in Gladstone for several years as a young man, when it was much more industrial, and he wasn't keen to stay there, however we needed somewhere to leave the van while we were on Heron, and a few days either side to get organised.

We tracked down what I think is probably the best kept secret in Gladstone, the KinKora caravan park.  It gets bad press because it is close to the airport and train line and gets a bit of noise, but it is a huge spacious parkland with lots of trees, birdlife and was actually very peaceful.

There has been a lot of beautification carried out near the harbour with several pretty picnic areas, and Garry was pleasantly surprised by the changes to Gladstone.

After our trip to Heron we spent a day exploring Boyne Island and Tannum Sands, which had both become significantly more developed since Garry had been there.
